Alliance of Asian American Friends Donates Turkeys to NYPD 109th Precinct for Thanksgiving
On November 26, 2024, the Alliance of Asian American Friends partnered with the NYPD’s 109th Precinct to host the third annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway, donating 100 turkeys and canned goods to families in need throughout the community.
This event aimed to give back to the community and express gratitude to local residents. Special guests at the event included State Senator John Liu, City Councilwoman Sandra Ung, and 109th Precinct Commanding Officer Kevin Coleman, who all shared holiday greetings with the public.
Captain Coleman emphasized the importance of this donation, stating that it reflects the true mission of law enforcement — to help others. He noted that 51 turkeys would go to underprivileged families in the community, while the rest would be distributed to officers working through the holiday.
Tian Ji Li, President of the Alliance of Asian American Friends, expressed joy in continuing the partnership with the police precinct, hoping this collaboration becomes a Thanksgiving tradition. He also shared that this year, the Alliance donated 100 turkeys and $1,000 to help prepare side dishes.
The event highlighted the spirit of mutual support within the community and showcased the active role and contributions of the Asian American community in New York City.
